"A garden always gives back
more than it receives."

Grandpa Red's Pots

Special Pots: In former times, vegetables were grown in peat pots which provided good transplanting success but had a short, messy shelf life. Today's consumer is looking for more convenience. Without an economical solution to a convenient, environmentally friendly package, the veggies will be in one of the following:

  • Our traditional, recyclable, plastic pots.
  • Those varieties which resent transplanting will be in plant-able, compost-able rice pots.
  • And larger, perennial vegetables like Asparagus and Rhubarb will be in "Trade Gallon", recyclable, plastic pots.
  • Some of the vegetables, specifically Arugula, Cabbage, Celeriac, Endive, Root Parsley, Radicchio, Spinach and Swiss Chard, will now be in a Tri-pak, that is a 3-cell pot, to make transplanting easier.
  • And larger, perennial vegetables like Asparagus and Rhubarb will be in "Trade Gallon", recyclable, plastic pots.

We will continue to look for ways to "walk softly on the earth".
